I didn't get around to writing my blog post last Tuesday. I had a little distraction. Life often has a way of throwing unexpected curveballs, and last Tuesday was no exception. It was the day I received an email notice from the Medina County Park District about proposed rule changes to Chippewa Lake, the heart of my hometown and a place that holds deep significance for my family and me.

Chippewa Lake has been woven into the fabric of my life since my family moved here in 1975 when I was just two years old. It's not just a body of water; it's a community, a lifestyle, and a treasure that has shaped generations of residents. In the face of the proposed restricted wake time, I found myself compelled to take action, to stand up for the way of life we've cherished for decades.

In my role as a real estate agent, I've witnessed the intrinsic value of "Lake Rights" for homeowners. It's not just about docking a boat; it's about embracing a unique way of life that defines our community. This is a sentiment echoed by many, as evidenced by the numerous questions from potential buyers about lake access. Chippewa Lake isn't just a location; it's a lifestyle choice.

In response to the proposed restrictions, I penned a letter to the Medina County Park District, expressing my concerns. The letter detailed the impact of these changes on our community, highlighting how limiting boating time from 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Saturday would alter the very essence of our shared existence.

I shared personal stories of learning to wakeboard at the age of 50, the joy of purchasing a home in the community and the generational connections that tie us to this place.
